My Top Winter Immune Support Favorites!

Runny noses, sneezes….the flu…exhaustion…oh man! It is the time of year where we all are not able to get away from it! Especially when you have a family! And, for me….a family that is in school, including my husband who is a 3rd grade teacher and is sneezed on daily!

What do you do to support? There are so many things to choose from….where do you start? What do you choose? How do you get your kids to take those supplements?

I am going to help you out! I will share with you some of the regular items in my household that are ALWAYS stocked! Wanna know?

Let’s do this!

My Top FAVS!

VICTORY ELIXIR by Tasha Rose: Powerhouse. That is really all that needs to be said about this! If you want to grab something that even your children will like, this is it! An incredible immune support that covers a ton of bases!

  • Use daily as an organic immune booster for kids and adults

  • Also a supplement for occasional seasonal allergy support

  • Contains organic and regenerative adaptogens (astragalus root and nettles) which may support resiliency, boost immunity, and assist with overall health

  • Assists with optimal immune, respiratory and endocrine function

  • Contains elderberry which may be high in Vitamin C & antioxidants

ELDERBERRY SYRUP: Feel something coming on? Then you can start taking 1/2 teaspoon to a teaspoon a couple times a day. For kiddos, I add small amount of raw honey on a spoon with it and it is a game changer! My favorite, you ask? Check out Seeds of Well-Being, Erica makes magic with her Elderberry Syrup! If you are local this is an amazing option! The other one that is a fan favorite for me is Tasha Rose: Elderberry Syrup!

  • Use this product to help support the immune & respiratory systems

  • Elderberry syrup is best when taken at the first sign of sniffles or scratchy throat. Recommended for acute/short term use

FERMENTS: Ok, so you gonna look at me and say…why in the world would I eat sauerkraut when I am sick? Well….they are literally one of the BEST sources for healthy probiotics….what does that really do for you?

This is going to build up a SUPER HEALTHY GUT! When your gut is loaded with healthy probiotics to support healthy bacteria and a super healthy microbiome you will increase the strength of your immune system!

How cool is that!

How much? 1/2 a teaspoon to a tablespoon at each meal….that is it! So simple! Check out Spirit Creek Farms! They have loads of options! The other option is Bubbies Ferments! The fermented pickles are fantastic!

Here is a tip! If you are not used to eating fermented foods, then you should start really slowly. You will begin by actually just drinking the juice, then slowly work up to the actual fermented food. If your gut is struggling, then you my have some side effects if you have too much. Some constipation or diarrhea….that is not fun! So go slow! Its a great way to introduce it to kiddos as a small spoonful of the juice, take it down quick and they are done!

My ultimate favorite ferment…..are you ready?

FIRE CIDER! No kidding….so good…so nourishing…..and really really good for your immune system! Now, this is something that small humans may not love too much because it is a very spicy item! But it is worth the heat! I promise! Tasha Rose makes an amazing Fire Cider! Creating your own…that is super fun too…that is for another post..we will give ya a recipe…just not today! hoot it straight, or add to broth, soups, marinades or salad dressings. (If adding to a cup of broth or bowl of soup, make sure to add the Fire Cider after the broth or soup has cooled a bit, to preserve the live enzymes and beneficial bacteria.)

  • Traditional immune and digestive health support

  • Raw, organic infused apple cider vinegar

  • Warming, powerful and pungent flavor

Ok, stay with me! Only one more thing I am going to share with you! Do you know what it is?

ELECTROLYTES! HUH? Why in the world do I need those? Along with water, your body also needs sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and chloride. These minerals—called electrolytes—regulate a staggering number of processes in the human body! Huh, so what do these minerals do for us?

Sodium: Helps with fluid balance and muscle contraction

Potassium: Helps with your blood pressure and the beating of your heart (that’s important!)

Magnesium: Helps with muscle contraction, heart function, and even anxiety!

We absorb these electrolytes through food and drink and then excrete them through sweat, feces, and urine. Now, if your body gets sick that will take your off balance and the body becomes dramatically depleted and you need to get it back into your body. The best way to approach this? If you feel like you are getting sick start drinking your electrolytes right away, and then you are getting ahead of it!

My favorite is LMNT electrolytes! Available at my studio if you would like to purchase!

So that is a lot!

Big news for you….you do not need to do ALL THE THINGS!!! I think it’s so important to take it one step at a time and start to incorporate these items into your life one at a time. This is not a ALL OR NOTHING scenario.
